4TREEHOUSE
Lake Muskoka ON, Canada
“The trees still sway, the wind, daylight, darkness and moonlight pass through the openings as through so many inner branches. Anyone taking shelter in its floors will certainly feel the rustle and rush of breeze. It’s enough to inspire nostalgia for a childlike appreciation of things.”
-Phyllis Richardson, XS Extreme, Thames & Hudson, London
A lantern in the firs above Lake Muskoka.
Suspended among four trees, it offers a small, quiet escape—where wind, light, and forest sounds reset the day and bring back a childlike sense of ease.
The structure wraps the trunks rather than fighting them, using a light Muskoka frame carefully hung with one high-strength steel cable per tree to minimize impact.
A lattice skin filters daylight into shifting patterns, then glows at night—soft, warm, and weightless in the canopy.
