URBAN RUG Co.
Urban Rug Co.
Urban Rug Co.'s specializes in meticulously handmade rugs from wool and silk. Curator and critic Mark Morris describes them as, “soft city models, as instructive to touch as they are to view. While serious in their accuracy, a certain element of fun prevails in their fuzzy tactility.”
The rugs can be found in the collections of the Munch Museum in Oslo, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, K-11 Art Foundation in Hong Kong, and the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto.
Urban Rug Co. celebrates handcraft and tradition. Skilled weavers painstaking hand-tuft or hand-knot each rug in a family run mill in northern India, now in its 6th generation of operation.
Limited edition collections have been realized with Oslo artist Magne Furuholmen of A-ha. Street artists Dalek, Astro, and Persue worked with Urban Rug Co. to create a limited edition street art collection curated by Nicole Potvin of www.verveprojects.ca.
