DESCRIPTION
Tierra Nueva occupies a topographically rich seaside site with natural plateaus overlooking a picturesque coast. To responsibly transform this land into a residential development, natural landforms are retained and new site access is added along existing pathways. Semi-pervious paving is used to define vehicular access while allowing water absorption. New pedestrian and cycling paths connect the 3 individual plots, encouraging community interaction.
Three main housing typologies are introduced into the site; apartments, townhouse villas and duplex villas. Each typology is developed utilizing combinations of modular volumes representing one function of a residence; living, eating, sleeping and socializing. These volumes are stacked and staggered to create a language of terraced volumes that respond to the site condition.
