DESCRIPTION
The project is a joint development by the City of Edmonton and the Edmonton Eskimo Football Club of a multi-use recreation complex and field house (indoor arena), built as an addition to Edmonton’s iconic Commonwealth Stadium. This unique joint project involved master planning for the entire Commonwealth Stadium site in Edmonton, organizing the sport fields of the iconic stadium and the adjacent Clark Field with new public squares, walkways and park landscaping.

The program is based on the idea of creating a social heart for the neighborhood, with the Commonwealth Community Recreation Centre acting as catalyst for a revitalized Commonwealth Stadium campus. At the site level, the building organizes the different site geometries and creates an urban space that becomes the focal point of the site, working with the existing neighborhood and the LRT transit system.
